Developing scalable, standards-based workflows using Worfklow Description Language and Docker.
Description:
The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) is responsible for defining standards used for the analysis and sharing of genomic data. By aligning with standards, developers, clinicians, and end users can use and develop interoperable tools that can be applied across the genomics ecosystem. Here, I will discuss the Workflow Execution Service (WES) and the development of WDL-based workflows that can be executed on engines aligning with the WES specification. I will also discuss the use and importance of containerization in bioinformatics workflows.
